He Made Us Complete in Him (You Have Been)
October 25, 2026 (Speaker: Minister Nicole Harris)
It may be the end of the month, but it is not the end of Due Date over here at Zadok!
Our series continues this week with Minister Nicole Harris who stepped up to the platform to remind us of who we are (and who we’ve been) in Christ.
We spend so much time waiting on God to give us a sign, send a signal, or release a new word, but Nicole clued us in to the truth that we aren't waiting on God to complete us, because He already did the work.
Let’s unpack the message!
“For in Him all the fullness of Deity (the Godhead) dwells in bodily form [completely expressing the divine essence of God]. And in Him you have been made complete [achieving spiritual stature through Christ], and He is the head over all rule and authority [of every angelic and earthly power].” — Colossians 2:9-10 (AMP)
Understand how massive this is; God came down in bodily form, from deity, to make sure you were made complete before your parents even thought about you or each other.
So if you’re still waiting for a sign or signal from Heaven, lean in real close: In Him, you are complete.
Notice the text says "YOU"—a personal pronoun addressing you, the reader and listener. This isn't general; it’s personal.
And look at the verb tense: "have been." In African American Vernacular English (AAVE), using "been" adds distinct emphasis to express a state or action that happened in the remote past and remains completely true today. It’s the difference between saying "I know Him" and saying "I've BEEN knowing Him!"
So when the adversary tries to whisper in your ear that you're lacking, unworthy, or unequipped, speak back to that thought and declare: "I've BEEN!" You’ve been knowing Him, and He’s been knowing you.
When God walked into the earth realm, He came to complete you! Being complete means having all necessary parts, elements, or steps. Here are a few things He has already completed in you:
Love for one another: He completed it in you so you can walk in respect, strength, and unity with your brothers and sisters in Christ.
Kingdom Accountability: God created all families in heaven and on earth, calling us to walk in accountability with one another. But the devil wants to fracture this unity by distorting our perspective until we see our neighbors as enemies and reject the very connections meant to guard us. Watch out for that!
Walking in Truth: He’s shown you how to walk in His Word with honesty and integrity.
“Do you see the YOU in Him?” — Nicole Harris
Do you see the prestige, the esteem, the intellectual and moral greatness, your new behavior, and the divine success that you carry in Christ? You are not who you used to be. The Bible tells us that in Christ we are new creatures.
God completed a work in us, but we sometimes struggle to see that work in ourselves, so we need to condition our minds to believe it. Look at what Jesus says in John 14:
“Do you not believe that I am in the Father, and the Father is in Me? The words I say to you I do not say on My own initiative or authority, but the Father, abiding continually in Me, does His works [His attesting miracles and acts of power]. Believe Me that I am in the Father and the Father is in Me; otherwise believe [Me] because of the [very] works themselves [which you have witnessed].” — John 14:10-11 (AMP)
Jesus didn't speak on His own accord. He moved with total confidence because He knew whose name He came in and who gave Him His power, strength, and authority.
We are called to adopt that exact same posture:
“Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus,” — Philippians 2:5 (NKJV)
Stop coming to God constantly telling Him what you’re not. You cannot convince God to think of you as you think of yourself; He knows what He completed in you.
When you refuse to take on the mindset of Christ, you default to leaning on your own understanding. As Proverbs 3:5 warns us, human understanding is completely unreliable.
Leaning on your own logic creates a mental divide because the limits of what you know about yourself will constantly fight against what God has already settled about you.
Come to Him knowing you've been completed.
So how do we keep our carnal nature from talking us out of our completion? Paul gives us the answer in the next few verses of our text in Colossians:
“In Him you were also circumcised with a circumcision not made with hands, but by the [spiritual] circumcision of Christ in the stripping off of the body of the flesh [the sinful carnal nature],” “having been buried with Him in baptism and raised with Him [to a new life] through [your] faith in the working of God, [as displayed] when He raised Christ from the dead.” — Colossians 2:11-12 (AMP)
Spiritual circumcision gives us real power and authority over the flesh so we can continually abide in Him. When you crucify your flesh daily and bring it into subjection, you are empowered to maintain the mind of Christ.
Nicole gave us a great analogy from the sports world. Professional men’s boxing features 17 standard weight classes. Why? To guarantee fair competition and protect the safety of the fighters.
When you received Christ’s spiritual circumcision, God shifted you into a completely different weight class so the fight against the enemy would be fair. Mastering your flesh through the power of spiritual circumcision gives you complete authority over it.
“But [like a boxer] I strictly discipline my body and make it my slave, so that, after I have preached [the gospel] to others, I myself will not somehow be disqualified [as unfit for service].” — 1 Corinthians 9:27 (AMP)
Is it worth telling everyone else "thus saith the Lord" while you yourself end up disqualified because you refused to discipline your flesh? Your flesh will do whatever you allow it to do if you don't use your authority to subdue it.
By putting our flesh to death, we have been buried with Christ in baptism; and through faith, we are raised with Him to walk in new life.
Apostle then perfectly punctuated Nicole’s message with a practical challenge regarding spiritual conditioning: You control what weight class you need to be in through discipline.
What are you carrying right now that you aren't disciplining yourself enough to drop? Nobody can force you to lose spiritual weight—you have to want it for yourself.
Ask yourself: What weight class do you need to be in to fight this next fight?
Whatever is going on in your world (in your mind, on your job, or with your personal circumstances) that has made you feel bogged down, it's time to check the scale.
When you approach God frustrated, feeling like He isn't responding to you, it’s not that Heaven doesn't have an answer. You're just weighing in too heavy with extra baggage you were never meant to carry.
Be ready for your next weigh-in.
The next time you step into God’s presence, don't walk in trying to fight a battle while carrying unnecessary weight that's too much to handle.
Lay aside every weight and every sin that so easily besets you, walk in your spiritual discipline, and stand in the truth that you HAVE BEEN made complete in Him.
