Understanding Tithe and Offering
I’ll be honest. Early on in church, like most of us - I didn’t really understand tithing and offering. If I had a dollar left over, I’d drop it in. Five dollars here, something there. In my mind, as long as I put something in the basket, I was good.
But I didn’t understand principle. I didn’t understand order. I didn’t understand stewardship.
It wasn’t until my spiritual father broke it down for me that it clicked.
Giving isn’t about leftovers. It’s about first. It’s not random generosity when you feel like it. It’s intentional obedience. It’s trust.
Now people look at my life and say, “Oh, he must be God’s favorite.” That’s not it. God loves us all the same. But there are principles in the Word that unlock increase when you actually apply them.
The Bible says, “Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over.” Luke 6:38
What you release makes room for more.
When you hold everything tight, you limit capacity.
When you sow in faith, you expand it.
Tithing and offering aren’t just about money. They’re about alignment. They show who you really trust as your source.
I’m telling you from experience, when you get this revelation and start living it, you unlock another realm of increase. Lean in. Study it. Apply it. And watch what God does.
Tithing and offering are not merely financial acts they are spiritual alignments.
They establish lordship, demonstrate stewardship, and activate covenant order in the life of a believer. Giving is part of God’s governmental design for His Kingdom. It reflects trust, obedience, and partnership with Heaven’s agenda in the earth.
God Owns Everything
Scripture makes ownership clear:
“The earth is the Lord’s, and all its fullness.” — Psalm 24:1
God owns 100%. We are stewards entrusted with resources, time, gifts, and opportunities. The tithe reminds us that all provision comes from Him.
The Purpose of the Tithe
The word tithe means “tenth.” It represents the first portion set apart for God.
“Honor the Lord with your possessions, and with the firstfruits of all your increase.” — Proverbs 3:9
The tithe establishes priority. It trains the heart to put God first and develops discipline in how we manage what we are given.
“He who is faithful in what is least is faithful also in much.” — Luke 16:10
Faithfulness in the tithe demonstrates readiness for greater responsibility. It builds integrity and trust.
The Purpose of the Offering
While the tithe is a consistent principle, offerings go beyond the tenth. Offerings are voluntary gifts given from the heart.
“Let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver.” — 2 Corinthians 9:7
Offerings reflect generosity and gratitude. They support ministry work, meet needs, and demonstrate compassion.
Unlike the tithe, offerings are not fixed amounts but are guided by willingness and purpose.
Tithing and offering are important because they:
Acknowledge God as the source of all provision
Develop discipline and responsible stewardship
Strengthen trust in God rather than in money
Support the work of ministry and service
Reflect the condition of the heart
“Bring all the tithes into the storehouse… and try Me now in this… if I will not open for you the windows of heaven.” — Malachi 3:10
Giving is not about loss; it is about trust. It shifts our focus from ownership to stewardship and reminds us that God is faithful to provide.
Example of Tithing:
If someone earns $1,000:
The tithe (10%) would be $100.
That $100 is set aside first, before other spending.
This practice establishes priority and discipline.
Example 2
In addition to the $100 tithe, someone may choose to give an extra $50 toward:
Created2Impact
A Building Project
Helping a Family in Need
A Special Ministry Initiative (pastoral offering, anniversary, birthday etc)
I want to encourage every member of ZadokWCI to become a consistent 100% tither. Not out of fear. Not out of obligation. But out of revelation.
When we align with God’s principles, we unlock another realm of increase. Not just financially, but spiritually, mentally, and generationally.
Let’s be a house that honors God first. Let’s be a people He can trust. And watch how He moves in our lives collectively and individually.
It starts with obedience. It starts with trust. It starts now.

Amen! I was just asking the Lord about these things.
Thank you for teaching us Apostle
This was amazing! Do we also tithe our tax returns?
